What is an OBD2 dongle?

The OBD2 dongle is an adapter that you plug into the OBD2 slot of each vehicle that you want to track. Its average power consumption is about 1.3mAh, lower than 10% of the average vehicle power when parked so that it can monitor vehicle status without draining the car battery. 

Also written as OBD-II, it stands for on-board diagnostics II, and refers to the data port under the dash of every car manufactured in 1996 and beyond. It provides technicians and owners a way to read information from the vehicle’s sub-systems and computers.

How do we install the dongle?

To install, simply plug the dongle into the OBD2 slot of the vehicle and start the engine for one minute. The adapter will automatically gather data from the vehicle which you will be able to view when you log into our system.

Can we re-install the dongle from car to car without sending a request to the support team?

Yes, simply remove the dongle from the old car and plug it into the new car.

Is the system secure from hackers and cyber threats?

We take cybersecurity seriously so that you can focus on running your business. Our technology is ISO 27001 certified and our cloud service is based on Microsoft Azure, which is trusted by over 95% of Fortune 500 companies.

How reliable is the hardware?

Hardware failure can be a big inconvenience when trying to use a connected car system. Our hardware is produced in a TS/IATF 16949 certified facility and is ISO 16845 certified. Each device goes through a multi-stage test to make sure it is working before it is packaged and shipped. Finally, our hardware is under a lifetime warranty. What is the cost of your vehicle tracking system?

What’s included with the price?

Our price includes everything you will need to get started including hardware, data plan, access to our portal, and mobile app (optional). We also provide free training so that your employees will know how to use the system and come on-site to help you get everything installed properly.
